The buoyancy of Charlie LeBlanc's "Celebrate Jesus" sets a joyous and righteous tone for this uplifting assembly of songs. The melodic brilliance of Paul Baloche is ably defined in "I Will Celebrate," while the modern church staple "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" gets a rousing treatment from the Maranatha Singers. Appropriately enough, the first disc closes with the classic "Shout to the Lord," the signature Darlene Zschech number bound to move anyone's soul. The second disc packages the old (Amy Grant's "Thy Word" and Rich Mullins's "Awesome God") with the new (Delirious's "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever") in a delightful sequence. The powerful Ron Kenoly belts out the closing "Majesty" in fine form. This release is a solid primer for those exploring the praise and worship genre. --Michael Lyttle | | | Product Details: | | | Audio CD Release Date:

SONGS 4 WORSHIP: SHOUT TO THE LORD is an anthology of conventional and well-known songs in the 'Praise and Worship' Genre. The value of this double CD set is its collection of twenty-two old (at least by the conventions of modern worship music) standards in one place.
The set does not break new ground. Rather, it presents many favorite musicians doing their signature pieces: the Maranatha Singers, Paul and Rita Baloche, Darlen Zschech, Twila Paris, Delirious?, Amy Grant, Rick Mullins, Graham Kendrick, Keith Green, Pete Sanchez, Jr, Joseph Garlington, Charlie LeBlanc, Ed Gungor, Don Moen, Kent Henry, J. Daniel Smtih, Marty Nystrom, Ron Kenoly, and David Butterbaugh.
A good mile marker archive for your library.

UpliftingFeb 20, 2006 The best investment for my money. The best praise songs in one CD. We play and sing along to the songs before our prayer meetings.

Uplifting, Inspiring, and RejuvenatingJul 17, 2005 I am not a regular church goer any longer...and was not raised with this type of Christian music. However, after hearing commercials on TV, I found I really liked this music for a couple of reasons: (1) it's in celebration of our Lord (always a good thing); (2) it's joyful and refreshing; and (3) it allows "closet singers" (such as myself) to sing along (at the top of our lungs) and express our faith musically. Try putting on this CD while doing housework. It makes the task go by fast!!

Barely 4 starsNov 18, 2003 This is nice package for the modern contemporary Christian worshipper. But IMO only about half the songs are very solid and meaningful on here and the typical keyboard, bass guitar, drums setup gets old. There is little variation in the playing of these songs - the same situation applies to most modern services in churches. But it is a pretty decent package and there are some good uplifting tunes on here. Overall, the BE GLORIFIED package (blue CD set) is better.
