The sharpener works great as advertised - I save a lot money from not sending the knives out.

This item is harder to work than the commercials show. It does a pretty good job, but not as good as the claims made for it.

I find this to be a small, handy and simple gadget for sharpening knives that works.

3Is Harder to Use Than It Looks!Jan 25, 2008
The "directions" included with the product are VERY short and poorly written (These are the directions for sharpening scissors, shears: "The best sharpening angle is automatically provided by the wider angle. Hold scissors with handles tightly down to a table as illustrated and move the shar-pen-ing edge slightly tilted over the grinding edge from the handle to the tip."). Huh? There is a grinding edge on scissors? And what, exactly, is the "wider angle" that provides the best sharpening?
I'm not having a lot of luck with this but I've only been at it for about an hour. Maybe tomorrow I'll have a better opinion.
